Tackling the (Nearly) 100 Episode Backlog: A Quest for Survival
Don’t tell me you think I’m always behind on anime like this. (Because I know I am) Miken: I needed a reason to get off my rear and watch all the series that piled up during the tail end of school. My problem is that I pick up way too many series and my sense of “I NEED TO FINISH THIS” kicks in after 3-4 episodes and I become almost completely unable to drop it. It takes something especially horrible (like Winter Sonata) to get me to drop a series well into it. However, this season has been marked with a bunch of series I just didn’t feel like continuing. I suppose I’m finally learning my lesson and not watching series that I don’t outright enjoy to at least some degree. Also — thankfully, not... (more...)
Durarara!! Episode 18: Katt takes over blogging duties, and it’s all about the AWESOME
Time for Masaomi's arc! And it involves being screwed with by Izaya - hooray?! Katt: I have been horrible with anime watching this season–I’ve only watched the first episodes of the two series that I’m supposed to be blogging, and I haven’t blogged either of them. Uragiri wa Boku no Namae wo Shitteiru 1 & 2: “I Will Not Betray You”
…The way that line was delivered — IT WAS WAY TOO NORMAL! Miken: The title of this series sure is a mouthful, which is why I’m going to go by how Crunchyroll and everyone else seems to shorten it and simply call it Uraboku. Still, with a title that translates to “Betrayal Knows My Name” and the pair of pretty boys on the promo art, I have a feeling that most people are skipping out on this. That’s a shame though, because while it does have the general air of awkwardness that most shows with boys-love tones has, it really isn’t half bad. Sure, it’s not going to win any awards soon, but it was much easier to watch two episodes of this than watch a single episode of K-ON!! Of course, that’s... (more...)

TAAN: If you didn’t see my Daimaou post, I’m switching to writing as I watch (actually, I’ll probably try some kind of hybrid style) , since that discourages procrastination. Probably, this will be long and mostly off topic, but whatever. Personally, I don’t think it works for me, but it’s better than being weeks late, right? Also, if you couldn’t tell from my review of the first episode, I don’t really like this series already. I’ll try to make sure I’m not being biased enough to disregard important good points though. Chronically Behind: Strike Witches
Miken: Being a female who doesn’t usually deal well with fanservice shows, I don’t know what the hell came over me when I decided to “borrow” the newly released Funimation dub from a friend and marathon the whole thing. It’s definitely an interesting series — a passable war-based plot, amusing characters and pretty nice battle scenes… but I suppose it all really only matters in the eye of the beholder. The fanservice…well, I wouldn’t go so far to say that it detracts from the series, since I’m pretty sure I’m not in the demographic... (more...)
Chronically Behind: Neon Genesis Evangelion
Miken: Seeing as I’m watching more and more old shows on top of my 10+ new shows per season, I suppose I should at least leave some comments on the older series that I’ve watched/caught up on. The first and hopefully not the last post will be of Neon Genesis Evangelion. I had seen an episode or two many years ago, but I never really got the chance to sit down and properly watch it. However, my boyfriend annoyed asked me into watching it in its whole glory. The first half of the series is tame enough.
