Skip Beat Episode 2~ Solo
Minnie: I’m back with the second episode of Skip Beat! Already, from the very beginning, Mogami talks about how Shou throws her away like paper. Harsh. Mogami left that apartment and is now living with a couple who owns a store. The second time, the OP song sounds a lot better to me. But I dunno. Let’s see okay? I find a lot of the images amusing still though. The character I want to see more of is Ren. He’s such a hottie from that television shot but let’s see how his personality is. Will he appear this episode?
Minnie: That devil chibi version of Shou amuses me to no end! Hahahah. XD I feel bad for Kyoko and the people in the streets when they hear her ranting about smashing Shou’s pride ot pieces. ^^ That arrogant jackass Shou is really making me mad by looking down on Mogami/Kyoko (I use the names interchangeably, don’t mind me)! I really want her to wipe that smirk off his face. Dumb bastard… Anyhoo, Kyoko decides to try her luck by going to a huge company equaling that of Shou’s and try to seek a career as an idol. If it’s really that easy, I’ll go and become an idol too. Oh wait. I lost my chance to be an actress years ago.
Unfortunately, she has no idea what she wants to do- singer, actress, etc and so Sawara accuses her of joining the industry because of Ren… who is part of this company…
Minnie: YES! Ren is here! Oh wait. He just kicked her out of the building. XD But the thing is he has a good reason to since she doesn’t have any clue what she wants to do. Because of her motivation to beat Shou, Mogami decides to sit outside the building. Ren notices this and walks off to his interview. Ah! So Sawara is the talent section manager! Mogami does her homework and tracks him down from the backdoor. Nice. Good job. Wow, this is hilarious. Kyoko is really persistent and has resorted to stalking Sawara. XD She bothers him for a week or so until he finally tells her to audition to get into their agency. Score or not?
Minnie: Shortly after she gets the paper/invitation to audition, Kyoko is determined to make it through even if it’s in three days. Unfortunately or fortunately, she runs into Ren again who immediately figures out that Sawara was threatened into this. He is a pretty egotistic too since he thinks she can beat Shou in no time, only if she passes the audition of course. Ren ends their meeting by warning her that persistence doesn’t always achieve everything in life. I agree so I must say I like Ren better than Shou, though I don’t know if I like him that much quite yet. Shou’s hotter to me but Ren’s better I think? I’ll have to wait to see more.
Minnie: Kyoko decides that she dislikes both idols- Shou and Ren- and she will beat them to the top. That’s the spirit! I must say- I like this Kyoko a lot better than the one in episode 1. I guess it’s me and strong-willed heroines like always. On the day of the audition, Mogami feels like she’s outmatched by all the other people auditioning. They all have perfect makeup on while she spends all her money on her hair and clothes instead. Yeah, no makeup is pretty bad Kyoko but I’m still cheering for you. Hahahaha. Mogami has resorted to cursing Shou out with a voodoo doll, which of course backfires on her a bit later on. That new lady with long, black hair is pretty heartless to Mogami but I can’t help but say she’s so pretty! Pretty female char. XD
Minnie: The little girl that supposedly got “lost” in the audition room gains a lot of sympathy from the girls trying out but not from Kyoko, who says that crying will do nothing. Anyways, they are faced with the judges, one of which is Sawara who is already imagining Kyoko cursing his family out. The president is the last to come and he arrives with a grand, Mexican dance (?) entrance. Oh! A Samba. I love Lory already. I hope I’m not wrong about him. Everyone seems to be shocked at him. I am too. XD Ren is thinking about the audition and is reminded that Kyoko is auditioning for revenge. What a silly motivation or so Ren says. The gorgeous looking girl’s name is Kanae and she’s overconfident in her abilities. Obviously, she wants to become an actress. She doesn’t seem to like Kyoko at all.
Minnie: And the episode ends with Mogami coming out on stage with a knife and rutabaga? What the heck is going on? XD I’m sure she will surprise us all next episode. Anyways, it seems like the judges don’t like her very much because they believe she’s a fangirl of Shou but the President is interested in her and believes she has another motive in auditioning. The ED is really catchy once again and I have a feeling I heard this group from somewhere before… Naruto/Bleach/FMA? Maybe? Anyways, I like this episode a lot because it tells me exactly where this anime is going, unlike others. I don’t have a favorite character yet (though I must admit I love Ren’s voice) but I am captivated by the storyline. I’m looking forward to next episode!
Minnie’s Overall Rating for Episode: 8/10
Minnie’s Anticipation for Next Episode: 10/10 (They end it at the best part!)
