Miken: I regret not calling this show a couple months back, though I did manage to steal this one from Taan it was surprisingly good despite the far-fetched idea. Animation quality was awesome, as you will tell by the moving scribbly censor over Akira’s…….-cough-.

Episode 1: I’ve Found Myself a Prince
Summary:
This one starts off with the female lead, Morimi Saki, speaking fondly of a guy who became a “prince” in order to commit a sacrifice that would bring about the tomorrow that we hope for. After the opening, Saki gets off to cab she was riding in and finds herself gazing at the White House fountain after the title screen. Then, she does one of the most idiot things to do with a sniper on the opposite roof…she throws something into the White House lawn. Upon closer inspection, it was a coin which was supposed to reach the fountain, but it obviously misses. The security gets suspicious of her…

However, with perfect timing, she is saved by a naked guy with a handgun and cell phone in hand. Then, time jumps back a little to reveal that the guy was dropped off where he was unexpectedly, with both items in hand, just in time to see Saki throw the coin. He also doesn’t know his name…though at least he knows where he is. As the police turn their attention to him, a truck passes by, giving him a chance to hide as the police follow the truck.

When approached by her birthday-suit wearing savior, Saki is flushd…Since, well…He’s naked. When he admits that he’s cold when she asks, Saki gives him her hat, scarf and jacket. After thanking her, the guy then tosses the gun into the White House lawn and makes a run for it.

Further down the way, the guy sees the two policemen talking to one another and hides behind a car, taking this time to investigate the cell phone. No clues to his past are given, seeing how the thing is brand new. He then presses the button with the scales on it and comes into contact with Juiz, his concierge. We find out that this is the first time that his memory has been wiped, so no instructions were given to create a new personal history for him. Thus, she can’t really tell him who he is.

The guy moves a bit as he hears more police running down the sidewalk. Juiz then continues to explain that her orders were only to tell him where to go next, and an address in promptly sent to him.

Back with Saki, she realizes that she left her passport in the coat pocket…the coat that she gave to the naked guy. She then ditches her luggage and runs at the direction the guy went.

Passing by a coffee stand, the guy gets stared at and realizes that he is dressed pretty weird. Soon after, Saki makes it to the same coffee stand and the vendor points to where the guy is. Just in time for Saki to see a well-dressed businessman handing over his pants to the guy. With a “WOOHOO!, the guy continues his escapade through DC.

Soon, he finds his destination and is pointed to go to room 3B. Outside, Saki, who is probably going to miss her flight, asks the man that just came out and heads into the same building. The, the policewoman at a nearby hotdog stand gets a picture sent to her of “a suspicious male and female couple”. We know who they are, right?

In his room, the guy finds a pair of perfect-fitting shoes but doesn’t feel at home in the room. Opening the closet, we get a full arsenal of weapons fitting for a terrorist and a number of passports, all with different names. He also finds two group pictures of him and a buncha similarly naked guys. He then realizes that he might be a terrorist and wonders if he’s killed anyone.

Saki then appears at the door, asking for her passport. The guy gets the stuff and picks out a passport from the pile too — deciding to be “Takizawa Akira”. Changing into new clothes and burning the extra passports, Akira keeps Saki waiting, just in time for the policewoman to make her entrance. She questions Saki on if she’s the person in the first picture of a girl throwing something into the White House. While she’s at a loss for words, Akira comes out and tries to have her go along with him.

The policewoman calls them both back and takes a second look at the pictures and says that she has to take a look at Akira’s “Johnny” to confirm whether or not he is the one in the picture. Akira promptly drops his pants, shocking Saki once more. The policewoman compares the two and decides that Akira is not the one in the picture and tells the two to “have a nice date”. We also get a shot of the passports burning in the toaster~

Outside, patrol cars are everywhere and Saki wants to go back to get her luggage bag. Akira decides that it’s best not to go back and a red cab pulls up at a nearby corner and tells the driver to head to the police.

Later at night, the two are at the airport and Akira realizes that the passport actually works and doesn’t feel like its forged. He hands over a ticket and passport to Saki. It seems that the earlier trip to the police was to handle the tickets at the embassy by filing a theft report at the police station in order to get them to believe their story and pay for their fare.

On an escalator, Saki takes the chance to ask Akira what he was doing the first time they met. She asks if he was protesting or something, and Akira simply says that he’s a terrorist. Of course, he finishes off with “Just Kidding”. He then tells Saki that it’s a game he plays as an exchange student. When he asks Saki why she’s in DC, she says that it’s her college’s graduation trip. Actually, everyone went to New York and she headed for DC alone to see the White House, since she feels like it’s the center of the world in that everything from her tiniest worries to world affairs is connected there.

She goes on to say that Japan has an atmosphere of not being able to do anything by oneself and she intended to make a wish for something to change, even if just a little. However, she also had a feeling that it wouldn’t happen and that DC really doesn’t have anything to do with them at all. Akira says that he understands, but adds on a “not really” when he repeats the line.

Of course, “someone” whipped out a little terrorism and everything turned out fine in the end. Akira takes the setup and says his “Johnny” got whipped out, earning a punch from Saki.

Finally, the two get to introductions. Saki states her name and Akira pauses before taking out his passport and showing it to her — “Takizawa Akira”. Then, she makes the discovery that the two dates, January 6th and 7th, 1989, are both in the last week of Showa, just before the start of Heisei. Still, Saki is the big sis one by a day.

Akira then pats her on the head and heads off. Saki then wonders if Akira is her prince, but decides that he couldn’t be and follows after him. Akira stops in front of a TV and notes the heavy atmosphere that Saki mentioned before. On the news, there is a report of a missile attack on Tokyo.

Notes: The OP is pretty good, and the effects were cool too. I applaud them for actually having the people in America speak English, and I don’t mean Engrish! I also applaud their attention to detail. Sure, there was that one stand named “Espresso”, but still, the english was good overall. One problem though, is the fact that Americans like that taxi driver are able to understand Japanese, it feels like too much of a stretch. I really love the papermation in the ED though~

“Is this the center of the world?”
No, but #43 , would probably have you think that

Sorry, but that setup was just asking for that joke.

That’s one way to save the maiden…

snapshot20090410181613

Is it REALLY that hard to find a naked guy in the middle of DC?

snapshot20090410181810This is what I think of a good number of US Congressmen and Senators would actually do

Whoever leads these boys must have some awkward fetish, no doubt there.

……..I feel for you, Saki, I really do.

VNN? That marquee at the bottom? It couldn’t be a parody of CNN, could it?!
(I want animated Anderson Cooper NOW)
