With the arrival of our new blogger Miina-ni and her picks for favorite characters, we arrive at number 7! The last four picks or so have been hard on our bloggers. Most of us know who will be at the top of the list and who will be at the bottom of the list but it’s the middle ones that are especially pesky. How should we order the characters we love so much? Thankfully, most of us figure it out on time and is here with our number 7 picks! Will your favorites appear or not?
Minnie’s Picks:

Kyon
Series: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Reason Behind Pick: Oh Kyon! How can I forget about you? Here is the thing with Kyon. All the promo pictures KyoAni throw out for Melancholy are all about Haruhi, Yuki, and Mikuru. It’s annoying. It’s crap. It’s stupid. Why? Because Kyon makes the show (why put the fanservice girl when he is way more worthy?!). Yes, the narrator with his hilarious commentary and cynical/sarcastic comments is what made the show as great as it is. Haruhi and company are amazing but I don’t think the show would become this popular and this great without Kyon. He is driving force that keeps us all laughing our heads off while he himself speaks in the same stoic voice as always. He is the one that represents the audience and points out the absurd that we’re all thinking of in our heads. If what I said haven’t convinced you, let me ask you this: Will there be a Haruhi anime without Kyon? HELL NO! If Haruhi is the Queen, Kyon is the Shadow King pulling all the strings with his humor! KYONISM FOR THE WIN!
Haruhi Fujioka
Series: Ouran High School Host Club
Reason Behind Pick: I’m sorry, Haruhi Suzumiya, but the less popular and IMO, more worthy Haruhi gets a higher spot in my heart and in my countdown. First of all, I’ll give Haruhi F. props for being one of the few female characters in existence to accomplish two things- look extremely beautiful with super short hair and become an effeminine boy with it. Now for the rest of my praise for this amazing heroine~ Haruhi F. does one of the few impossibles in the anime world- to be more popular than her reverse harem of bishies. That’s right. In a show full of gorgeous bishies, she’s the favorite and most popular character in Ouran polls in the manga, the anime, and worldwide on the Internet. Well-deserved too I might add. I think that’s quite an accomplishment don’t you? (See Duke/Katt’s Pick from Number 8 for more reasons why to love this heroine)
Note from Minnie: Kyon and Haruhi Fujioka making the same spot in my countdown is a total coincidence. I did not plan it ahead of time since I made my two lists separately. ^^;;
Garrick’s Picks:
Kamina
Series: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
Reason behind Pick: I believe that caption says it all.

Katsura Hinagiku
Series: Hayate no Gotoku and sequel
Reason behind Pick: She’s a tsundere too… and once again… we have the responsible younger sister. It certainly doesn’t hurt that her older sister is an alcoholic that mooches off her for money.
Ric’s Picks:

Gesicht
Series: Astro Boy and Pluto
Reason Behind Pick: Gesicht is easily one my personal favourite characters in existence for his intriguing past, cleverly written character and generally for being such an amazingly done protagonist. Granted, him being made in “collaboration” (In a sense.) by two of my favourite mangaka, Osamu Tezuka (Lots) and Naoki Urasawa (Monster) maaaay lead to a slight bias on my part, but screw that. T’is my list, I say who goes where! (The poweerrrrrrrrrr<3)

Rei Ayanami
Series: Neon Genesis Evangelion
Reason Behind Pick: Okaaay, the reason behind picking Rei is definately how memorable she is, being pretty much one of the more iconic characters of the mecha subgenre, and to be honest; It’s not hard to see why. Stoic but lovable, Rei is one of those characters that you just can’t help but like. (Rei II to be specific)
Katt’s Picks:

Death the Kid
Series: Soul Eater
Reason Behind Pick: It was pretty damn hard to pick just one guy from Soul Eater to put on my list, buuut Death the Kid won. Honestly I think I could justify choosing any character from this series. My reason for picking Death the Kid above the other boys is that both the serious and hilarious sides of his personality come out strongly during the series. Everyone loves his symmetry-obsessive quirk, but I also enjoy his character because he is intelligent and really processes and questions the things that are going on around him in Shibusen even if that means doubting his own father at some points. There’s more to Kid than the symmetry!

Hokuto Sumeragi
Series: Tokyo Babylon and X/1999
Reason Behind Pick: Hokuto doesn’t get nearly enough appreciation! Admittedly I might be cheating here because I like her more in the Tokyo Babylon manga than in X/1999, but shhh! Same character, different circumstances. It is next to impossible to justify Hokuto’s character without spoilers, so consider yourselves warned! Hokuto has a lighthearted demeanour that I think she really keeps up for the sake of her brother; yes, she is naturally a happy person, but she isn’t dense and she knows when problematic things are about to happen so she is not without concern. The way that she looks out for Subaru is very endearing, yet she also isn’t perfect because she also shows some selfishness in also looking out for Subaru’s enemy. It makes her a very complicated character who I wish had a more significant role in either series. Oh, and she gets bonus points for all of her amazing, crazy outfits~
Steve’s Picks:

Tomoya Okazaki
Series: Clannad and Clannad: After Story
Reason Behind Pick: There are times in harem anime when I wonder why all these girls like this one lucky bastard. It is not the case with Tomoya. Even though he is a male lead in a harem anime, he is not annoying. Actually, he is cool and calm, yet emotional and vulnerable at the same time. Every male harem lead should learn from Tomoya.

Kotomi Ichinose
Series: Clannad and Clannad: After Story
Reason Behind Pick: I pick my two lists separately so I have no idea that the two Clannad characters end up in the same spot. Anyways, Kotomi is my favorite Clannad girl for several reasons. She shares my love for the violin (even though she is dead awful at it) and my love for books. I don’t know why but every time she is on screen, I go fanboy crazy. It doesn’t hurt that she has the same voice actress as Yakumo (my number 10 pick).
Taan’s Picks:

Ayumu Narumi
Series: Spiral
Reasoning: Ayumu’s a genius. I guess I like his extreme genius-ness and his strange cooking obsession. He knows massive amounts of trivia and has analytical skills that could be said to be godly. He’s even better in the manga though.

Kiri Komori
Series: Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei and sequels
Reasoning: She makes it almost ok to be a hikikomori, which I almost am. In fact, I’d basically be her, if I was a girl and had nothing important to do ever.
Marissa’s Picks:

Zero Kiryuu
Series: Vampire Knight & Vampire Knight Guilty
Reason Behind Pick: ZEROOOOOOOO~~~~~~~!!!! NOTHING ever goes right for this guy…….. NOTHING ;____; Like Subaru, I spill BUCKETS of tears over this guy because his past is just so sad………….. and his life is just so sad….. can’t he get a break from all this tragedy?????????? I love you Zero……….. ;__; Oh and he’s a semi-VAMPIRE….. That’s hot *0*

Kaname Chidori
Series: Full Metal Panic
Reason Behind Pick: I LOVE girls who can kick a LOT of ass and Kaname KICKS ass!!! She might not be able to use a gun like Sousuke…………. she might not even be able to fight her way out of being captured…………. BUT she is confident AND hot-tempered AND fierce~~~~~~~~ I love it whenever she smacks Sousuke with a FAN!! *___*
Duke’s Picks:

Yoh Asakura
Series: Shaman King
Reason Behind Pick: Yoh is my pick because he is cool and chill in battle. When the going gets tough, he doesn’t go emo or angry or any of that shit. He is levelheaded and again, chill. Keep chillin’ Yoh.
Anna Kyoyama
Series: Shaman King
Reason Behind Pick: Anna breaks all the damsel in distress female stereotypes. Instead of being the one who needs help, she is the one who helps Yoh. She trains him. She beats him up. She keeps Yoh on the right path. She’s against sexism. Finally. (Ignore her pose in the picture)
Miken’s Picks:

Shidou Mariya
Series: Maria†Holic
Reason Behind Pick: I admit that the series is much more recent than my other picks, but Mariya really stands out as quite the wholesome crossdresser~ I admit that I love Mariya even though his trap-ness confuses me on the inside. I love the fact that he can quickly switch from the nice girl he appears to be publicly into the manipulative magnificent bastard that he truly is. Props to Kobayashi Yu for pulling of his character wonderfully~ However, I regret not seeing more of him in the anime. ^-^;;

Lenalee Lee
Series: D. Gray-Man
Reason Behind Pick: I admit that I really didn’t like Lenalee for the longest while. Even after her “life changing event”, I still held a small bit of contempt for her. It wasn’t because she was helpless, since she could fight quite well…but perhaps its just that she’s kind to a fault. -cough- But back on track — Why did I even bother putting her here? Well, especially with the newer material in the manga, Lenalee’s background makes her much more likeable, making her more dynamic than before. There’s the added bonus of her new conviction to fight, which just reaffirms her action girl qualifications and actual usefulness in battle.
Angel’s Picks:

Roy Mustang
Series: Full Metal Alchemist and Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood
Reason Behind Pick: Roy is a pimp. Roy is sexy and he can set things on fire by snapping his fingers. That alone is pwnage. Example:
Thus, he will soon take over the world and then order girls to wear miniskirts. Ric will be pleased.

Saber
Series: Fate/Stay Night
Reason Behind Pick: Girls with swords 8D Real reason now. Saber is an independent and reserved lady but she can easily kick ass in a dress. She has both grace and power, which makes her an excellent warrior.
Miina-Ni’s Picks:

Yuki Eiri
Series: Gravitation
Reason Behind Pick: Why the hell Yuki-sama isn’t nearer the top of my list I have no bleeding idea u.u’ because I love this guy with a serious and deep passion. His past is tragic and makes me just wanna CRY!!! TT____TT Yet at the same time when it comes to Shuichi even though he pushes and pushes to get him away he cannot deny that he is madly in love with him!!! I actually love it when he gets all angry and shouts cus its so sexy O_O urm is it wrong to call that sexy…?

C.C.
Series: Code Geass and Code Geass R2
Reason Behind Pick:Weeeeeeeell to be honest I’ve never in my life watched Code Geass… but I still love the characters ^_^ and I love CC cus she’s purdy and has green hair. XD Simple as that. Oh and because she knows Lelu … and he’s the smex.

Haruhi F is really a total stand-out shoujo heroine~ And I agree on Kyon as well ^__^. He really makes his respective series 89 percent more funnier and more awesome ^^. Lol Kyonism ftw~
I just can’t stop fangirling on Zero’s hawtness… Kyaaa~<3 *drools and melts to a puddle*.
I love the super-cool couple Yoh and Anna~ X3
Can’t wait for the next set ^__^.
KYONISM FTW~ ^__^ Spread the love! But yes, I love both Haruhis very much. Haruhi S was my #8 and Haruhi F is my #7. One of the reasons why I prefer this Haruhi is because of what you said. She is in a shoujo anime and she doesn’t fall into the shoujo anime girl syndrome. ^^
Knowing a certain someone from the blog, this won’t be the last time we’ll be seeing Zero.
Thanks for the comment Kanzeon!
