Sasameki Koto Episode One: Another Yuri but hey! Who is really complaining :P
I think like all but one is straight....she must feel like the odd one out!
Octavia:
A new season, a new Yuri anime =3 For some reason I can’t get enough of these! This new series Sasameki Koto focuses on two girls Murasame and her best friend/secret crush Kazama and their life at a co-ed school. The introduction doesn’t try to discreet the matter that this is a yuri anime as we are shown two female characters kissing and the two protagonists walking in on them but quickly skidding away. Yayyy girls kissing, XD;;;;;;
Must I really need to say more?
Characters:
Murasame is the main girl that we see in this series, she seems quite and a little forward to her friend Kazama which can hurt her at times. She is the class president in her co-ed school…that’s right co-ed!! And she really likes Kazama, we don’t see much of her personality in this episode as the viewer is mainly shown Kazama.
Kazama: I love this girl! I’d probably date her if she was real…but she’d probably think I wasn’t cute enough >.< She is open about her sexuality which tends to make one of her friends uncomfortable and is easily attracted to cute girls. She wanted to go to an all girl school just so she could be with cute girls…but she got rejected…because of that reason. She is quick to like someone and gets hurt easily as is shown as she quickly forms an attraction to the assistant librarian that she volunteers with. Murasame though doesn’t try to sugarcoat it, warning her about getting hurt.
Animation: The animation is pretty solid, not the best but the voice actresses are strong and pretty well known for the most part so at least that is a plus.
Music: The opening and ending are done by Natsumi Kiyoura who is best known for her role in Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon as Sailor Mercury.The music is soft and pretty and my headache actually went away from listening to the music, haha. It is a nice touch to the series…it makes it more soft and girly, lol.
Plot:
I wouldn’t say there isn’t much of a plot becasue romances tend to have the same basic plot, girl like girl, girl doesn’t know that other girl likes her, other girl is best friend and have I confused you enough? =P Murasume is a good friend to Kazama even though it may not always show. She is always there to lend a hand and a hug and to comfort her when need be.
She could really really use a hug right about now.
Overall:
Not wanting to spoil much for those who are actually interested in seeing the episode I will say that I can understand how Murasume is probably feeling and as I was watching my chest tightened just watching her hold back her emotions. It is a realistic-ish depection and the characters are interesting to keep me waiting for the next episode. Also the chibi animations that are thrown throughout the series are super adorable.
Teehh chibis! I really hope there are more!

The emotional dimension in this episode is really quite good; I hope they carry that through the whole series. They’re doing a nice job with facial expressions which IMO really make or break a show like this. And wasn’t the spontaneous hand-holding between Murasume and Kazama just… electric?
Really hoping to find out more about Murasume next time. She has a very reserved exterior, but her responses and her expressions suggest a deep interior character. And she seems very perceptive about others, but I wonder if she is equally perceptive about her own emotional state?

I really do enjoy the emotional dimensions as well. Murasume’s emotions really speak to me along with her facial expressions, it is very nicely executed. When the held hands, oh my goodness I squealed…on the inside, I can only imagine the emotions racing through Murasume.
And in regards to Murasume and her emotional state, I am not sure if she is going to be that perceptive about it or just push aside till it overflows, no one can hide that for that long without expressing anything. I like how she is able to understand others…even better then themselves, especially in regards to Kazama, who obviously needs her support. I am quite excited to see how this plays out =3
