How cute! Sailor uniforms!
Garrick: Just a week after I decided that I would expect nothing but comedy-ish stuff from this anime, we get another action episode. Or at least, that’s what I’m calling them. And now I’m not even sure what to think about what to expect from this anime. Other… than pure awesome. Seriously. I know I expected… well… good stuff, comedy or action… and it’s seriously delivering. Just… delivering.
Garrick: Anyway, today, we get to see more about the city and the town that Tokiwadai is located in. Yes.
Garrick: So, we have our two non-Tokiwadai students visiting the “School Garden”, an apparently upscale school-centered area of Academy City. Obviously, Tokiwadai, and other high-end schools are in this area, but, for today, we only care about Tokiwadai.
Garrick: Saten happens to slip in one of the water puddles caused by the rain (that was predicted to end at the second by the meteorological group of Academy City), and gets soaked… and as she and Uiharu meet up with Kuroko and Mikoto, they decide to lend Saten a set of Tokiwadai uniform.
Garrick: Of course, that won’t come without its consequences. After a Tokiwadai-fangirl-ish scene from Uiharu, and then we realize that there’s somebody out there that’s attacking Tokiwadai students. And how does she know that they’re students of the most prestigous school in School Garden? Uniform, of course.
Garrick: We ALL know where this is going. Obviously, this perpetrator is going to end up attacking Saten. But, what happens is that… she can’t see her. None of her victims can see her. And we need to figure out why.
Garrick: Remember, at this point, Mikoto isn’t a member a Judgement, but in the end, she figures out this Tokiwadai-hater’s ability. Dummy Check. Not sure what that correlation that has to the actual ability, but hey. It sounds cool. Oh, and in case you wanted to know, it’s not invisibility. It’s the ability to force a watcher’s brain to NOT notice her. However, because she’s only a Level Two psychic… she can’t use her ability on all reflections of her. Just people who are seeing her directly. Using this, and the fact that she can’t keep herself hidden forever, they find where she’s hiding.

Computer-loli. Sweet. Go Uiharu.
Garrick: Oh, by the way, might I say that Uiharu’s ability (I think it is) is super sweet. Massive control of all computer systems. God. She can control like 34587624548705254 cameras at once. It’s so sweet. (And she’s adorable, too). Anyway, they end up finding the attacker, (oh, and I forgot to add… she drew funny eyebrows on Saten! Funny!) and using Uiharu’s ability to utilize cameras, Kuroko and Saten chase her down. BTW, Saten looks hot in a hat. Of course, we have to add a bit of comedy… and we get to see the attacker, Miho, try and use a taser (which she used on her other victims) on Mikoto.

Poor Saten. At least it doesn't look too bad.
Epic Fail. (Oh, wait. That was supposed to be “Garrick:”. Oh well.)

It doesn't affect MIKOTO!!
Garrick:Yeah. We get her reasons behind attacking them… and like almost all violence, it’s love related. Awwww, isn’t that sweet? Anyway, we learn that the ink in the pen that Miho used to mark up her victims faces with weird eyebrows (like hers, I guess… it’s a jealousy thing), lasts for weeks. Poor Saten. At least you look good in a hat.
Garrick’s Rating of Episode Three: 9/10
Garrick’s Anticipation Scale: 10/10

We do get a nice improvement in this episode. Not every anime has to have action to make me happy. However when the main character is a walking EMP Pulse weapon — we want to see this weapon activated. I mean, do we not?
In this case, there’s no electrical cataclysm. But there is some mystery, some plot movement and we get to see just how (not) worried Mikoto is over Miho’s taser. Ha!
Garrick, I am still chewing on your hypothesis that “… and like almost all violence, it’s love related.” I would like to argue this point with you. But I’m worried that you may be right. Well, at least in anime.
It’ll probably be more action-y episodes from here on. I happened to read the manga version of this sometime last year and it seems they’re taking only the basic plot from that. I think episode 2 covered most of the less action based events.
