In which Kobato isn’t quite up to going “がんばります!”

Miken: This series is still going strong, and with Sayaka sick this week, Kobato and Fujimoto take over the nursery and come up with touching ways to deal with the situation. Very few comedic antics this week as Kobato takes another serious turn.

I particularly loved the scene when Kobato held onto Fujimoto’s arm as she cried. Not only does she reveal that she might have remembered her past (or at least remembered her emotions of the past), but it really does make the Fujibato shipper in me want to go d’awww~…But alas I didn’t because the scene was still sad. Seeing as her whole quest to fill her bottle is in order to be granted one wish, it wouldn’t come to me as a surprise if this certain person’s death is related to Kobato’s goal. Of course, remembering something, especially in a series done by CLAMP is bound to have serious emotional repercussions, so it’ll be interesting to see how someone so cheery as Kobato has to deal with that.

Note: screenshots not necessarily in order

Despite that great mass of joy hidden under her hat, Kobato still carries many sorrows.

The thousand cranes idea was really nice, but I was still kinda shocked to see them get to a thousand in a day. Sure, if I -suppose- that the nursery kids and Kobato total up to about 20 people (which is pushing it anyways),  each person would have to go through 50 cranes. Of course, this might be possible for people more skilled at oragami…Much more skilled than myself. That aside, I’m glad they got the job done in the end — it really wouldn’t have fit if they all didn’t manage to finish in the end, right?

Guess who’s baaaaaaaaa~~~~ck? [Shinichiro Miki~!]

As for Sayaka herself, I hope that she follows what the doctor ordered and also decides to slow down a bit. Sure, the debt collector’s still looming over her from next week’s episode, but she still has to watch out for herself. As for the topic of the debt collector, I’m glad he’s being brought back — he’s the key to a bunch of questions surrounding Yomogi Nursery, and those questions need some serious answering.

I must say, I liked the crying moment better in the manga. Having Kobato become so upset when one of the thugs who tried to hurt her became sick really emphasized her good heart. So, I wish they had brought in the yakuza before and not after, but that’s okay. It was still very touching.

And the animation staff lied! They promised us a new outfit every episode!!
