Autumn Mid-Season Update: Shakugan no Shana 3
Garrick: Well. I don’t remember the last time I’ve blogged through words, or whatnot, but here goes again. For anyone who remembers, I was a huge Shakugan no Shana fan. Through the first two seasons, I’ve enjoyed the action and the drama, and whatever else came with the series. Well… from the first episode of this season…Garrick: There’s been a huge and dramatic role reversal. And honestly, it confuses me. It confuses me to no end. Maybe that’s what they’re aiming for, but it’s too dramatic. It hurts my head
From the beginning, from the very first scene in the first episode… I see someone, obviously a new Super-Saiyan-longer-hair-style Yuuji…. holding the Blutsauger (yeah, it’s German, add those weird double dots above the u or something) with one hand. Suddenly… the sword he couldn’t even budge… he can hold with 1 hand, and swing it around the same way Shana does her sword.
Just suddenly. Over the break between Season 2 and 3.
Not to mention, that within 3 episodes, Shana gets captured by new Super-Yuuji… and suddenly, she’s powerless. So, the useless male character in Seasons 1 and 2… now becomes the most badass… AND EVIL… characters in the story. And the amazingly awesome female character… Shana? She’s useless now. She can’t do anything. I don’t get it. It screws up the entire fabric of this show.
And not to mention the sudden change in environment. I may have forgotten parts of SnS 2, but I remember nothing about a huge army of Crimson Denizens.
Either way, despite the confusion, I still love the action. It’s still amazingly fun to watch, I just don’t understand the specifics. Maybe they’ll be shown later in the season, hopefully it’ll make sense by then.
For now, I enjoy it, but would have liked a bit less of a… revived learning curve for this season.
