Minnie: I am speechless. That’s all. Now for my quick very fangirly review…
♥ There is so much Shou/Kyoko and Ren/Kyoko love this chapter. There’s so much of it that fans of both pairings are all smiling. The interaction. The facial expressions. The hints. And of course, the WTF ending~
♥ The ending last chapter made me speechless. As expected, this chapter continues where the last one left off with Shou coming in with a bouquet of flowers. Like I assumed, he got suckered into doing it by using it as a congratulation present for the Kyoko/Reino pairing in his mind hy his manager. That is the excuse he gave Kyoko too. Oh Shou. You fool. XD Why can’t you just admit you did this out of pure jealousy?

♥ There are a couple of things we should note about Shou’s incoming in this chapter. One, Ren is not happy to see him. I mean who is? Jokes aside, Ren knows that Shou has the biggest place in Kyoko’s heart right now and hate can easily change to love if done correctly. I’m not sure that’s in Shou’s capacity quite yet but it’s getting there.Ren has reason to be worried at his sudden appearance at their set like this.
♥ Next, the mention of Reino is pretty important in my opinion. Since Shou declared out loud that Reino is Kyoko’s boyfriend, it might lead up to something in the future. The girls on the set for example are in awe that Kyoko snag a guy such as Reino into her grasp. That made me laugh. The thing that stuck me about this valuable piece of misunderstanding is that Ren seems relieved that it’s Reino and not Shou who received the chocolates from Kyoko. Interesting…

♥ There is more to Skip Beat than meets the eye again. I half-expected this misunderstanding between Shou, Ren, and Kyoko to go on for a couple of more chapters. Thankfully, Kyoko reveals everything to both Shou and Ren. She was forced into giving Reino chocolate. They are definitely not dating (though I must admit the dark couple appeal is getting to me). And most of all, she doesn’t want to be seen as a lovestuck fool in front of Shou’s eyes. In other words, she still cares what Shou thinks of her which is a good sign to the fans of that pairing.
♥ More on the lovestuck fool deal, I find it interesting how Shou was so mad at her for being like that earlier but now that he found out she wasn’t dating the guy, he was still upset at her. Oh, you jealous ex-boyfriend (kind of) syndrome! Knowing her for years, Shou laughs at how she still can’t get a boyfriend. All the years they’ve been together she never once dated (I expected as much but I like that the manga straight out reveals this info). Who’s fault do you think it is Shou?!
♥ But that is besides the point. The point is no matter whether Kyoko gets together with a guy or not, Shou is unhappy in some way. I guess if she’s with anyone but him… he’s upset. And yet at the same time, he is the one who kicked her out of his life…
♥ Hypocrisy much?

♥ Let’s not forget about the last scene and what leads up to it. Even though the Reino misunderstanding is behind us now (and we receive such a warm smile from Ren too!), there is more urgent matters at hand. More importantly, Shou finds out that Kyoko gave out a bunch of chocolate today, except to Ren.
♥ However, Kyoko makes a mistake in revealing that she did give Ren something. Sure, it’s not chocolate but she did give it on Valentine’s Day so I don’t blame Shou for coming to conclusions that Kyoko is interested in Ren and is giving him a present that is much better than chocolate. It doesn’t help that Kyoko is all embarrassed about it in front of him. Oh what a stab to the heart Shou! All those years, you only receive chocolate from her, but this Ren gets an extra special present that she can’t tell you about!
♥ It’s a good thing Shou doesn’t know Ren’s b-day.
And even if he does, he would expect Kyoko to give it on Ren’s b-day instead of Valentine’s Day. I bet you anything the last scene of the chapter was planned from the start ever since Kyoko got Ren’s b-day incorrectly and didn’t make him any chocolate… Now, I wonder. What would Shou’s reaction be if she really did make him chocolate? Would we get that brilliant last scene?

♥ What exactly initiated the kiss between Kyoko and Shou? The blush to the ears. It’s as simple as that. Shou’s feeling jealous. He did not receive any chocolate from her this year. Ren received something that is better than chocolate in his eyes. All of that leads to this kiss. Although I don’t like the reasons behind it, I give Shou major points for taking the initiative unlike Ren. I like that in Shou. He’s impulsive.
♥ And just food for thought. Those first lines Kyoko start the chapter with are often overlooked but it means something. I’m sure it’s related to Kyoko/Shou and that Kyoko’s reaction to Shou’s kiss next chapter may be more mild than we all expect… Can it be that Ren is the ultimate catalyst in getting Kyoko back together with Shou? I’m not sure but if the mangaka pulls it off correctly, it’ll be brilliant. The more likely outcome? This kiss is the catalyst in getting Kyoko together with Ren since Ren will have to move past his passive role.

A bonus Ren picture~
♥ In conclusion…
Shou +1
Ren 0
As a Ren/Kyoko supporter for now, I have to say… Go Ren go! Though I must admit I am starting to like Shou with Kyoko too… T_T I’m such a traitor. But anyways, make your move now Ren! You can’t be passive forever~ Grr!
