Two Faces You Should Know From Akasaka
Minnie: Yuuhi arrives in town, looking for her fiance, who turns out to be the person who suddenly kisses her in class for no reason. The story continues with Episode 2! The OP “Ren’ai Parachute” is beautiful and pretty catchy. I sort of like it. Again, I am not the best when it comes to music- look at Koala bear for that- however, I can say that I like this OP a lot. I’m pretty sure with more episodes, I will come to like it a bit better. Anyways, OP is a plus from me at least.
Garrick: It’s cute, upbeat, but nothing special. It’s not amazing. I do like it, though. And the images that go with the song are nice, too.
Minnie: The story behind why Yuuhi has a fiance is because it’s a tradition for her wealthy, powerful family. The Chairman wishes her to marry the son of a great man he knows. Surely, if the father is amazing, his son is as well. Wow. Doesn’t this sound familiar? (hint Goong hint) In other words, the reason for this arranged marriage is to maintain power since the person she will marry will inherit a lot of it. Makes sense… Of course, Yuuhi like all modern girls don’t like this one bit and wishes to see how her future fiance is like. This is when an ordeal is suggested- her living in his house and then come back later to give a real assessment of his character and such. Anyways, Yuuhi agrees to this and leaves her father’s side.
Garrick: Yeah. I’ve seen this story before. We all have. It’s not very new, but it’s always interesting, especially with the characters they have in this anime. Obviously, after finding out who she has to live with, Yuuhi wouldn’t be happy. The interactions between Yuuhi and Junichi actually… seem rather… overly unaccepting, on both sides. It’s rather weird.
Minnie: Okies, all of that happen in the past. In the present time, it seems like Yuuhi still have not forgiven Jun for what he did earlier that day. I mean I wouldn’t. Jun receives a phone call from his dad, revealing to him that he has a fiancee and that he has to be nice to her. I love his dad already. Anyways, there is one thing I am glad about this anime- out of all the characters thus far, my favorite besides his schoolmate is his younger but act like his older sister. She’s responsible, thoughtful, and very nice. I can’t help but like her the minute I met her last episode. This episode continues to prove that. Yuuhi and Jun are all right too but out of the trio, I have to pick the younger sister, whose name I will remember soon, as my favorite.
Garrick: Minato, Minnie. It’s Minato. Anyhow, I do love Minato, too. I just wish I had a younger sister like that. Instead, I have two younger brothers that I have to take care of, cook food for, and buy stuff for. I know how she feels… in a less extreme way.
Minnie: The following morning, Yuuhi wakes up with bags under her eyes. She denies it as a result of a horrible sleeping place, but emphasizes the point that she is disappointed that everything that has happened so far isn’t a dream, but reality. Yes, Yuuhi, reality is very cruel. You know what’s the most ironic thing? She actually did have feelings for him, but thanks to his stupidity, they are no longer there (or so she says). And being the wonderful younger sister she is, the younger sister stops the fight. My most favorite character Tsukasa in the entire show makes her appearance alongside Nagomi and is as delightful as always- giving nicknames and probably writing exaggerated stories about Jun. Oh btw, for that classroom scene, I hope everyone notices that Yuuhi is sitting as far away from Jun as possible.
Minnie: Also, I really really like Yuuhi’s voice. It’s a lot nicer than Taiga’s voice, which is expected but I like it more anyways. Anyways, next scene is grocery and yes, I remember her name now thanks to the subs. Minato-san! Yuuhi is so adorable when she finds herself in the supermarket. Even more so when she starts naming off French dishes to Minato when Minato asks what she likes to eat. Okies, I give in. Yuuhi is wonderful with her princess aura and her thirty types of spices! She excels in chemistry too. XD This grocery scene not only makes Yuuhi more likeable, but Minato (if you haven’t loved her already like me). She is like my mom- able to pick out the best vegetables and know prices with a glance. Awesome. Yuuhi calls it “special skills”. Hehe.
Garrick: Yeah, in the whole second half of the episode, I found Yuuhi absolutely adorable. And as you all should know by know, I LOVE adorable characters… and she’s up there for the cutest one of all. Just from this episode. A tendency to push buttons… =P That’s rather cute. Although, a fuse can’t short thirty minutes after intense usage (a.k.a. Yuuhi’s intense button bushing), but that’s technical, and I regret bringing it up already.
Minnie: Even though I am a bit disappointed at the lack of Tsukasa, I am glad that they include a lot of priceless Minato and Yuuhi moments, especially those in the kitchen. For those of you who haven’t figure it out by now, the last episode had this action-packed sequence in the beginning of Episode 1. The man in it is actually Minato and Jun’s father. His mother is like his father as well. What a funny family! I love how when the light went off and Jun accidentally touched Yuuhi’s breast, Minato just blinked and left to check on the circuits. XD Minato’s on Yuuhi’s side and gives her advice on tackling Jun down. Oh Jun. You little perv. Yuuhi likes to press buttons. XD ^_^;;
Minnie: Minato and Yuuhi really do get along well. It’s been proven this entire episode. I thought the director would go further into the Yuuhi/Jun relationship but instead, he went further with the growing friendship between Minato and Yuuhi instead. There is a bit of background information from Minato on Jun to Yuuhi. I like this scene a lot, and that little comment about Minato not being Jun’s real sister. I hope that will proven false in the future. I hate the new girl vs childhood girl love triangle. I don’t want that to happen in this series since I really like it thus far. The ending and last scene is adorable- very cute Yuuhi.
Garrick: Very cute? MORE than very cute. WAY more than that. Way way way way WAY more.That is the ONLY reason I love Yuuhi as much as I do right now. Her interactions with Minato and this one scene. Of course, we’ll just leave out that we’re only 2 episodes in. Her interactions with Junichi have felt a little… overly bitter, on both sides.
Minnie: As for the ED “Sweet Gift”, it’s pretty cute and sweet. It’s all right. I don’t like it personally but I can see why others might like it. Anyways, remember all that overwhelming praises I had for this anime in my blog? This episode only adds more to it. I really really really love this anime because it’s cute, funny, and charming. More than anything, I love the characters. For storyline, I am a bit skeptical but I am willing to overlook that for the amazing characters and beautiful graphics. My favorite Tsukasa will probably get more lines next episode. This episode is pure gold for Minato and Yuuhi. I love Minato and Yuuhi almost equally right after Tsukasa. I hope Jun and other characters get more development, like that Student Council President and Karen. Again, I have nothing but praises for this anime so I can’t wait for the next episode! It really is such a nice watch. Though, I might be biased since I am willing to watch animes as long as I love the characters. For me, characters>>>plot and anything else any day. Haha.
Garrick: I don’t feel like commenting on (or in this case, agreeing with) everything else in this post, so I’ll just say… plot>>>characters and anything else anyday. Haha. *sighs* (is still mad at you dropping a tale of memories)
