Asura Cryin’ 2 Episodes 10+11: we saved the 1st world, but what about the 2nd

Saturday, December 19th, 2009

Dari: Ok, I had no exams over this past week, yet somehow I’m still late in releasing this post. Why? Hmm… possible reasons are that I’m lazy, Because Kara no Kyoukai 7 came out, and because I’m very good at de-motivating myself (that’s the same as being lazy isn’t it). Anyways, I’ve got a post for 2 episodes here, so have fun.

Episode 10

Dari: Episode 10 starts off with a summery of the black hole disaster, before switching back to where the previous episode finished, with the discussion of how everyone close to the experiment became a demon, including Noataka (who actually didn’t die, despite what was said in episode 8). Turns out Nao’s been hanging out in the superstring reactor, which has become a sort of world between worlds, and only demons, contractors, and burial dolls can enter it (which stops Kanade, who has lost her demon powers)

Dari: They enter the other world in a sort of memorial to all the dolls that have lost their life, where they are greeted by Nao. Nao pushes for sending Tomo back to the 2nd world as soon as Kurogane is fixed, but Tomo manages to convince him that he can fix the 1st world, and chooses to combine Shurogane and Kurogane, despite the risks involved. While Nia is combining the two Asura Machina, another swarm of stray daughters come through the gate and Tomo is forced to fight them back using his demon powers, until, that is, the works on Kurogane are completed and is summoned, at which point Tomo goes from taking out 1 or 2 at a time to 20-30 at a time.

Dari: Kanade recovers her abilities to help Tomo fight the big boss daughter (… how typical a shounen event can you get?) and after beating the boss, 1st world Misao helps close the gate between the worlds, giving her life in the process. (it is also at this point we learn in the next episode that Kanade and Tomo make their contract.)

Dari: Now that the 1st world has been saved, there is no need for Kanade, Nia, Tomo and Misao to stay in the 1st world, and they return to the 2nd world, taking an iginiter (which it turns out affects causality and is only usable by Asura Cryin‘) with them, by the power of Nao’s Asura Machina.

Episode 11

Dari: Upon return to the 2nd world, to about a minute or so after they left, Tomo collapses… Awakening in the Meiotei, (which had been sent from the 1st world, as the one in the 2nd world was blown up). As Tomo and company prepare for the final showdown with Tokiya and company, we learn about the contract between Kanade and Tomo being formed, thus making Tomo an Asura Cryin’, upon his return to the 2nd world (as in the 1st world he was a demon, and therefore the contract wasn‘t valid).

Dari: President Rikka of the 2nd student council is recovering in hospital, along with the others who were harmed by Tokiya and Co., except for Shuri, who’s condition and location is unknown, ever since the Royal Dark Society took her injured body from the ruins of the 2nd world Meiotei after Tomo and Co. returned from the 1st world.

Dari: After Tooru’s betrayal, and the disappearance of Shuri, it is decided that Tomo is to become the president of the 3rd student council. While Tomo and Company visit Kanade’s grandfather (the spiral guy that we haven’t seen since early 1st season), Tokiya is using the three Asura Machina he stole (Hisui, Bismuth and Rhodonite) to stabilise and control the central vortex, and opens up a black hole, and a gate to the 3rd world.

Episode 10 Screen-shot Rants

Yes, it is the never-ending Spiral Stairwell, even more boring then the never-ending story.

… what ever force is pulling them down can’t be gravity, as gravity has no effect on Burial dolls… either that, or Misao is playing with us and faking it…

A Burial Doll War Mermorial

YES! Another momment of inteligence from Misao…

We all know she’s faking her stupidity.

ok, normally I’d get annoyed with this being to typical, but at the moment, I can’t help but think how sweet this is.

You might not have known this, but Nao was the captain of the Enterprise

Colossus of Darkness, useful if you can’t use Kurogane

The Subtitle there says it all, so lets have a look at what it can do:

look at that, it takes out all the remaining Daughters in one shot. Kurogane>>>>>Colossus of Darkness

Understatement…

*Facepalms* typical Shounen Plot event, if the enemy gets there hand on the most powerful weapon out there, make a new weapon for the protagonist.

ok, I’m no longer annoyed by Misao’s Stereotypical Shounen lines, as I now believe that she’s saying them to support Tomo, and she looks as if she’s making fun of Shounen lines, or at least that’s what I tell my self to prevent my mental breakdown.

Yes, Kurogane has a sword, purely for awesomeness reasons.

Kanade is a liar! She had her demon powers all along!

Colossus of Darkness + Kurogane Tag Team

Tomo Fails Demonology, no.

WE TALKED ABOUT THIS IN AN EARLIER EPISODE, IDIOT!

Um, Misao, you’re not his sister, so you can’t be her sister-in-law…

This is it, people, what we’ve been waiting oh so long for, the contract.

… That is not a good thing…

Even in the 1st world, Misao is an expert of the fake air-headedness

2 Misaos are better then 1

This is as good evidence as any that Misao of the 1st world is dead

It wouldn’t be a Harem if he wasn’t, Misao

And that finishes the 1st world arc

Episode 11 Screen-shot Rants

Here’s Nia in her PJs for all you Nia fans…

…And Misao for you ghost lovers

Misao is once again giving Tomo her dirty look

SHOUNEN WORD!!!! why did she have to say Showdown…

Yes, that was it… He like all you dirty minded people, was thinking it was something more… Perverted…

That’s why we didn’t see the daughter in the previous episode.

Oh yes, I love how the name of Familiars in this series are named Daughters, it makes it sound as if certain things have happened between the two “Parents”

Poor Tomo, all the other Daughters we’ve seen so far look so much more awesome then this one…

Yes, He thought he had to avoid sex, not saying he’d stay by her side forever.

He’s Angry… He’ll give Tomo the worst possible Punishment, which is…

…Making Tomo President of the 3rd student council.

any other person in any other anime saying this, and i’d suspect them of being sarcastic, but this is Asura Cryin, and he is Shiro, and he is serious.

um, Rikka, as the purpose of the eye is to see with, some might say that there is something wrong with your eye.

… only Rikka could be blasé about the world being saved…

You do realise that for all they say, they only put this in to have the fan service shot of Yuu’s breasts.

Misao really knows Tomo well.

and Kanade and Tomo get closer…

… and kiss…

Misao was right when she compared being an Asura Cryin’ to two-timing.

…Didn’t Akito from Fruit basket say the same thing concerning Yuki and Tohru…

gah, curse me for comparing to Fruit Basket…

Yes, she’s saying all those sweet things about her and Tomo… to the Owl…

it’s the Central Vortex and Gate to the 3rd world… note very realistic looking if you ask me…

yey, 2nd world disappearing… and yes, I know that’s an evil thing to say…

yes, Tokiya cheated and used extra Asura Machina, jumping his plans ahead about 9 days.

Post Epilogue

Dari: well, that’s those 2 episodes. I probably won’t have the next Asura Cryin’ post out until after christmas (due to 2 exams christmas week, and the winter countdown), so I’ll make the next one a double release as well. until, then, enjoy.

Dari’s Opinion of Episode 10: 7/10

Dari’s Opinion of Episode 11: 9/10

Dari’s anticipation for Episode: 12: 8/10

Dari’s Anticipation for his last 2 exams: 1/10

Asura Cryin’ 2 Episode 9: The Birth of a Demon

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

Dari: ok, first up, sorry about missing eps 3-8, I was writing up reviews during my free time on a note pad, but I’ve mislayed that note pad, so I’ve decided to just jump up to the most recent episode. I might post a combined review for all the missed eps later if I find that notepad.

Dari: This episode, as you probably know, is set in the 1st stage world, after all that has happened… (man, it feels weird saying this, as I haven’t reviewed the earlier episodes…) It Nia arrived in the 1st world about 5 years before Tomo and Kanade, and was all alone. She was comforted by the 1st world’s Tomo and ended up growing feelings for him (I’m sure all you NiaxTomo fans out there are happy about this). It was her that developed the Asura Machina, and gave 1st World Tomo Higane to travel to the 2nd World

Dari: Also, due to Kanade losing her demon powers, she is unable to protect her self, so Tomo becomes a demon to save her, and his power is to summon a large demon like creature, (that kind of reminds me of an Asura Machina the way it stands behind him).

Dari: Anyway, from here on out through this post I’ll be mainly saying random things about screen-shots from this episode, an act inspired by Minnie’s very enjoyable fangirling posts.

[HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_01.06_[2009.12.02_18.10.47][HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_01.08_[2009.12.02_12.26.09][HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_01.10_[2009.12.02_12.27.06]

OK, does anyone else read between the lines here and see that Nia isn’t so concerned about him grabbing her breast, and more about the fact that he said another woman’s name while he said it? She’s gone from looking at Tomo as if he was untrustworthy to being tsundere…

[HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_01.30_[2009.12.02_12.29.28]… a bear, a dog and a horse all eating the same food… never mind that bears are omnivores, horses are herbivores and dogs are carnivores… oh well, I guess all pets at the Kitsutaka household are fed meat…

[HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_04.02_[2009.12.02_18.13.31]ah yes, no matter what universe you are in Tomo, girls will always point swords at you, it’s your fate.

[HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_04.29_[2009.12.02_18.14.11]… Generally when you confess your feelings at the same time that a monster crashes into the ground just metres away, the other party doesn’t hear you.

[HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_04.49_[2009.12.02_18.15.02][HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_04.50_[2009.12.02_18.15.20]

Notice this, Nia is now more concious if her body, more so when around Tomo, oh what 5 years can do.

[HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_05.12_[2009.12.02_18.15.46]yep, she’s full of her self, as usual, but this time it isn’t about her intelligence… yes, she’s trying to show off to Tomo.

[HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_05.39_[2009.12.02_18.16.16]and Tomo gets dragged off my Aki. Go Aki!

[HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_06.06_[2009.12.02_18.16.46]… There’s nothing strange about this picture, nothing at all. It is perfectly normal for school girls to ride down hills on giant fish…

[HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_06.15_[2009.12.02_18.17.00]Yet again Tomo finds himself in a precarious position…

[HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_06.33_[2009.12.02_18.19.00]… um, Tomo, you met Aine in episode 3, which for you was less then a year ago. You have not known Aine for a long time!

[HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_07.58_[2009.12.02_18.21.28]yes, they are the perfect couple :) the womaniser and the tsundere. :)

[HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_09.23_[2009.12.02_18.26.56]of course it is! it’s a bit hard if he says yes to going with you after the party has come and gone.

yes, that’s right, it’s Yukari! who is most likely who the Shuri we know actually is.

[HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_10.00_[2009.12.02_18.28.24] [HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_10.02_[2009.12.02_18.28.29]here we go, more shots comparing the Shuri we know, and the 1st world’s Yukari.

[HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_10.17_[2009.12.02_18.28.48]yes, she knows the truth, but more importantly, look at that kind look on her face, and how she touches Tomo’s face.

[HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_10.26_[2009.12.02_18.31.38]Because in the 2nd world you pretend to be Shuri!

[HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_10.46_[2009.12.02_18.32.24]I’m not sure if he’s talking about 1st world Tomo, or Shuri.

… OK, the Lines I get annoyed by the most, lines that number among the most common lines used in shounen.

[HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_11.48_[2009.12.02_18.34.30]yey for big hole in the ground… XD

[HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_12.06_[2009.12.02_18.34.52]except for those that are related to the research team…

[HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_12.37_[2009.12.02_18.35.27]yes, we’ve seen them already…

[HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_12.58_[2009.12.02_18.35.50]… you don’t say… why is it that characters always say the obvious in these positions…

[HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_14.56_[2009.12.02_18.37.55]that is incorrect, “a” is singular, you however have 3 “scratches”, scratches that have you kneeling to recover.

[HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_15.28_[2009.12.02_18.38.35]…Why the stereotypical Shounen lines! why couldn’t this have been a Seinen anime? it has such a good concept, but is corrupted by Shounen!

[HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_15.47_[2009.12.02_18.38.58]Tomo the demon, he has a red eye :) and a closed one…

[HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_15.50_[2009.12.02_18.40.56]Tomo’s cheating on Kurogane and getting another large monster to stand in his shadows.

[HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_18.39_[2009.12.02_18.43.37]hang on, wasn’t this the place where the experiment took place?

[HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_20.16_[2009.12.02_18.45.21]yes, it finally comes out that Nia loved the 1st world Tomo, and it seems as if those feelings are rubbing off onto the 2nd world Tomo

[HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_20.52_[2009.12.02_18.46.25][HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_20.54_[2009.12.02_18.46.07]

She may have aged 5 years, but she’s still the same Nia.

[HorribleSubs]_Asura_Cryin_-_2nd_Season_-_09_[480p].mkv_snapshot_21.48_[2009.12.02_18.48.42]well, at least he isn’t as late as I am with my blogging, though ep 10 finished airing in Japan only about half an hour ago, making this the closest to on time post yet (not including the xxxHOLIC manga post)

as you can tell, I love the concept of Asura Cryin’, but I get annoyed by it’s stereotypical Shounen events.

Dari’s aproval of this Episode: 8/10 (the shounen lines caused it to lose points)

Dari’s enthusiasm for the next episode: 9/10

Asura Cryin’ 2 Episode 2: The Koala is a Hikikomori!

j

Dari: Well, here I am, finishing up another review over a week late… will I ever finish on time??? Well, onto the review.

Dari: This episode starts off with Tomo having a nightmare in which Misao uses up the last of her energy  to power Kurogane (though why, is the question, as there are no enemies in sight) and disappears, at which point he awakens. We then see him standing in a dark room, his hands resting on the alter for Kurogane (the metal suitcase that was used to summon Kurogane) thinking about how it was the cause, and decides that he needs to see his brother, Nao. Roll opening credits/opening song.

I'm not about to die, I've just been tuned incorrectly...

Dari: Guess what. it’s the day before Tanabata, and everyone is writing up their wishes (though the line “hang it on the tree” is kinda wrong, as bamboo is a grass, not a tree… yes, I’m fussy) for Orihime and… what’s his name (I can never remember it, *goes off to Wikipedia*), ah yes, Hikoboshi. but that aside, Tomo asks Shuri if she knows where Nao is, or if she can get in contact with him, to which she replies no to both, but recommends asking Tooru. Unfortunately, Misao seems to have returned to being an Idiot, after having that one smart line in episode 1, by not recognising the name “royal dark society”… alas, she is doomed to be the one asking the dumb questions, with Tomo giving the dumb answers… anyway, Shuri promises to at least take a look into finding out where Naotaka is when she has the time.

As you can see, It's Tanabate

As you can see, It's Tanabata

Dari: Later that morning, and Tomo, Misao and Shuri are running late to school, making it just in time before a group of students block off the entrance with two large wooden poles (what kind of school does such a thing?). Mahiwa, however, isn’t so lucky, and comes charging down the street on Vivian (what kind of idiot would do this?) who releases a gust of wind at the (rightfully) scared group of students, which gets blocked by Tooru, (who appears out of no-where) and she continues to stop Vivian dead in it’s tracks. the resulting wind showing the mark of the sinner, revealing that she is an ex-handler.

Dari *Physics alert*: just a short thing, what should actually happen here is either Tooru gets pushed backwards, due to not enough friction force, or the concrete on which she is standing should be broken by the friction force of her feet on the concrete.

Dari: Tooru then tells off Mahiwa for coming to school on Vivian. Shuri the explains to Misao and Tomo that Tooru is an ex-handler and that Demons and Asura Cryin’ can’t hurt her, as she’s immune to magic. Misao’s response to this is that Tomo should become an ex-handler and then asks how one becomes an ex-handler (… Misao = Baka!!!), but she doesn’t get an answer as Shuri avoids the question by reminding Tomo that he should ask Tooru about Nao, by which point, everyone else has magically disappeared off to classes…

Dari: We then jump to the science club, where the club president (the koala), is going on about how the members are like trash, with Ania copying them (…she sure worships him…), when Tooru barges in and starts interrogating the koala about him not going to classes. Turns out that the Koala is actually a doll of sorts controlled by the science club president, Tokiya. It seems like Tokiya is a robotic genius, as he also developed Shuri’s weapon system, and Mahiwa’s robot widget (which, if your like me, you cannot remember…). this is also the point at which Ania starts questioning the koala… (poor koala has lost it’s worshipper)

Dari: Just as Tooru is leaving the club room, Tomo asks her if she knows where Nao is, to which she says no, but that she can probably contact him… on one condition, that he gets Tokiya to attend classes. so she says in a serious tone, however once Tomo says he’ll do it, she becomes really overjoyed and skips out of the room with a (very rare) smile on her face.

Dari: We then have the description of what an altar is from the 1st student council president, which is somewhat boring… then onto Tokiya’s house… a big blue cube (someone has no taste…) in between two mansion sized houses. turns out one of them is Tooru’s place, which causes Tomo to ask why he’s needed to get Tokiya to go to school when Tooru lives next door, to which Tooru replies that she can’t do it. Why? You ask. well, there’s a story behind it, and so we get a flashback… as we know, Tooru was once a handler… and (now for what we didn’t know) her Asura Machina was Kurogane, and the burial doll was her sister, Aki. To cut the story short, Tooru, Aki and Tokiya were childhood friends, and Tokiya and Aki were particularly close, but after defeating an Asura Cryin’, all of Aki’s Power was drained, as so she disappeared, and so it brings pain to both Tooru and Tokiya when they think about it.

Dari: Night time… and Ania has given the Koala a wash, complaining that he had started to smell. we now switch back to the Tanabata theme, and Tomo still hasn’t decided what to wish for, so Misao suggests that he wishes to be smart (which is what she should wish for… yeah, Misao annoys me with her idiocy), Tomo however remains silent through her suggestions, and Misao finally says something serious (I jump for joy when this happens), telling him not to worry about her, before returning to her silly self (which makes me wonder if perhaps Misao is just playing dumb… oh how i hope so…). we then have a monologue from him, telling us how he wants to change the fate that handlers and burial dolls face, as he puts up his two wishes.

Dari: That night we see Shuri enter a room in what appears to be an apartment building (which would make that room an apartment, alternately it was an office), looking for Nao. What she finds instead is a strange woman (who calls Shuri stupid), and flies away on a phoenix made of ice, which reveals her as a demon of the Torishima family.

Dari: When Tomo & Co. get to school the next day, which is Tanabata, Tooru runs up to them and tells them that Tokiya has disappeared, leaving a note saying that he was off to see Aki, when the idea of Tokiya committing suicide comes up, Tooru mutters about what is she to do, and then collapses, and is caught by Yuu, who suggest that maybe he went to the place where Aki died.

Dari: And so we go to the beach where Aki died, and the group splits up to look for Tokiya, while this is happening, Tomo asks Yuu to tell him about Aki’s last moments, so we learn about the battle with the Asura Cryin’. Tooru then spots Tokiya up on top of the cliff, and runs up that direction, with the others following. Tooru catches Tokiya as he starts to run, and it is revealed that Tokiya was avoiding Tooru to try and not cause her pain, and Tooru was not smiling as she was trying to be strong, so as to not cause Tokiya any pain… there is then a nice romantic scene between the two, and Tokiya makes a comment about finally seeing each other, and it being Tanabata, at which point Tooru bursts into tears. Then Misao appears behind Tomo, head faced downwards… and then she admits that she had spaced out (BAKA!!!)…

Dari: Next day, and there is a pile of books in the science club room, and under it all is Tokiya researching… in Koala form… as he claims that it is easier that way, as he watches anime with his real body (though would that be hard, as he’s getting visual input from the koala doll…) and scratches himself (then if him moving his real body moves the koala body, how does he move the koala body large distances while remaining in his blue cube). However, this does not please Tooru, who catches him in the hallway…

Dari: Now, what has changed… not much, yet it has developed somewhat… Tooru and Tokiya are now closer, progress is being made towards finding Nao (though it turns out the royal dark society has no idea where he is) and Tokiya plans to help Tomo with his wish.

Dari: Next episodes preview makes it look like there will be more fan-service, with the traditional swim-suit episode, and the idiot from the GD is in it (man I hate that guy). well, i’m off to watch it now and then start on the review.

Dari: Btw, next episode’s review will not be as in depth as the past two reviews, as I’m going to be writing reviews for 2 series, and two reviews of such a large size a week is a bit to hard for me with my schedule.

Asura Cryin’ 2 Episode 1: Why not to play with Blacks Holes

Friday, October 9th, 2009
Asura Cryin' 2 is here!

Dari: Yeah, I’m Dari (which is a shortening of my pen/screen name, Draringi), sorry this is late, but I’ve had an essay, plus labs and lab-reports to write over the past week, plus I caught a cold :( , but enough about me, and onto more important stuff. Asura Cryin’ 2 is here!

Behold! the sacred bunny!

Behold! the sacred bunny!

Dari: Asura Cryin’ is back, and hopefully better then ever. This Episode takes place a short period of time after the end of season 1, the exact length of time is unknown, but it would appear to be about a week after the event. After watching a short talk about the world coming to the end we enter the new opening, with more ecchi shots, the clearest picture of Nao yet (or at least, judging by the later picture in this ep it’s Nao…), and another great song by Angela.

It wouldn't be Asura Cryin without ecchi in the opening, no?

Dari: After that nice intro, we come across a running Tomo (and a flying Misao), and we have a review of what happened in the last episode of season 1. Tomo bursts into the nurses office, thinking that Kanade has collapsed due to using too much magical power, to find Kanade changing… thus causing another ecchi shot (will they ever end?)

YAES (Yet Another Ecchi Shot)

Dari: While Kanade burns (literally) in embarrassment, Ania gets angry and sucks Tomo’s luck, causing him to slam into the cubbourd, get hit on the head by a falling bucket, get wrapped up in what appears to be bandages, and get that roll of bandages roll into Kanade’s fire, setting it alight… and the poor guy was just worried about Kanade (I hope this teaches all you kind people out there what happens when you care about a demon… jk)

Aina bite again!

Face it Tomo, the world is conspiring against you.

Face it Tomo, the world is conspiring against you.

Dari: Luckily for Tomo, he is saved by Kanade (who is only wearing her shirt), and there is a close moment between the two, before they are interrupted by the Presidents of the 1st and 3rd Student Councils, with the 1st Student Council President pointing a gun at Tomo’s head. We learn here the reason why the girls were in the nurses office, Ania had tripped and fallen, and Kanade had taken her to the nurses office… so pretty much Tomo was over-reacting when he thought Kanade had collapsed. Rei goes off lecturing Tomo about him being a Handler yet being so close to a Demon, claiming that he is practically already an Asura Cruin’, and that if anything were to happen the 1st Student Council would eliminate him. It is to this claim that Tooru reacts, pointing her sword towards Rei, telling him to stay out of the 3rd Student Council’s business (as the science club is under the 3rd student council’s jurisdiction)

Tomo: 2/3 Student Council Presidents agree that he is a nousence

Tomo: 2/3 Student Council Presidents agree that he is a nuisance

Nobody kills my students, Reishiro... except for me...

Dari: Just because Tooru saved Tomo from Reishiro doesn’t mean she will let him and the rest of the science club off easy. They are to clean the swimming pool, and being the acting President, Shuri is made to join them. On the way to the pool, Ania encounters a walking Koala doll (yes, I agree, it’s random) which disappears when Ania turns away to talk to Tomo and co. The Cleaning of the pool is mainly done by Tomo and Kanade, as Misao is a ghost, and so can’t do anything, Ania gets off because she’s young (despite the fact the setting Tomo alight was her fault) and Shuri is too lazy (as usual). Kanade is clumsy, loses the hose, and Tomo and her have fun catching the hose. We also learn here that the Ignitor was lost, and that the tracking device Shuri placed on it stopped working.

Kanade dodges the water from the hose... but we all know that this is really just another form of fan service...

Dari: While the two love birds in denial have their fun playing with water, Ania notices the koala again, and follows after, climbing over the pool fence to chase it (arn’t those fences meant to be child-proof?). While Shuri is too busy slacking off to notice this; Tomo, Kanade and Misao notice and follow her, alerting Shuri on the way. So when Tooru turns up with drinks, feeling that she might have been hard on them, she finds the pool deserted and barely cleaned at all. so she does the next step in the process, draining the pool.

Dari: By the time the rest of the gang catch up with Ania, she has already lost the koala, and they themselves are lost. It is at this point that it is relieved that there are some ruins (known as the Rakuroa Ruins) of the first world down in the caverns that they’re lost in, from which only one person has returned alive… Naotaka… or so says the koala, appearing behind them, before disappearing into the shadows. at which point Tomo and co. are faced with a giant wall of water… the contents of the pool that Tooru drained…

Dari: Somehow they all survive  the flood of water, but Shuri is separated from the rest of the group. The koala appears and leads the group, towards what they think is the exit. Meanwhile, Shuri wakes up, finding herself in a canal outside,

Dari: Tomo & Co. follow the koala through the caverns, with Ania in total awe of it, while it triggers traps for Tomo to fall into. It is in this section of the episode that I hear Misao say the smartest thing I think I’ve ever heard her say. Instead of being slow and not figuring what is going on, she claims that it’s probably another trap when the koala starts using a computer, while Ania, normally the smart one, remains in awe, thinking the koala can do no wrong.

Watch out! That Koala is a Gould!...

Dari: The Koala end up leading them into the Rakuroa Ruins (and Tooru is somehow alerted to this), where the koala proceeds to annoy the guardians of the ruins by throwing rocks at them. Fleeing from the guardians, the group comes across a strange orb, which when touched by Misao, starts a flash back to the 1st world.

Dari: The Flashback starts with Tomo running, and apparently in the Track team, not having been conscripted into the science club by Shuri. we see An giving Tomo a towel to dry wipe away the sweat, and him that there is something she wants to tell him after the next training session (we all know it’s a confession of love!) Misao is alive, as there was no disaster concerning flight 901, and is friends with Kanade, and Higuchi teases him about his closeness to the 2 girls.

Dari: We switch over to a lab, where we see Nao and some others talking (though we don’t hear what they’re talking about) and then to a room over looking Nao & Co. where Tomo and Kanade, who are joined by Misao. it is at this point that alarms start ringing and control is lost on the black hole being used in the experiment. the black hole is seen to expand and a hole is ripped in the fabric of space-time, leaving the partially destroyed city we saw at the beginning of this episode.

Dari *Physics Alert*: ok, we saw the black hole grow and destroy part of the city, however theory says that a black hole of the size that would fit in the lab would fizzle and disappear, as was said in defense for the LHC which can be read here (btw, do you guys want me to point out physics denying acts in my future posts?)

Dari: We now have a discussion between Tomo and Ritsu, where we learn that the world has collided with another world, and that something has happened to Misao and that the world will end soon, but there is one way to stop it (how? we have to wait to see). The next scene is in a hospital, and Misao is disappearing, with the same sand like substance flowing from her hand as that came from Kanade’s ear in season one (is Misao a demon in the other world?). She asks Tomo as to whether he will love her to which he says yes and they kiss (about time…). next scene has Misao in the orb that we saw in the ruins, and Tomo saying he’ll do something with ritsu asking if that was his disision, just as we saw at the start of this episode… and we return to the 2nd world with Tomo saying that he will save Misao, and that he will save the world…

Dari: We return to the second world, with Tomo in great pain after taking in those memories, and while Tomo witnessed all that, it would appear that Misao didn’t. The rest of episode involves Shuri, Toory and Yuu coming and saving Tomo & Co. An interesting thing to point out is that Tomo hesitates on summoning Kurogane, with Misao telling him so summon it.

Shuri was never one for a subtle entrance

Shuri was never one for a subtle entrance

Dari: After they escape, Misao asks him why he didn’t summon Kurogane, to which he replies that he panicked. from this we are able to deduce that Misao is unaware of the price that Burial Dolls must pay.

Dari: It also turns out that while Misao didn’t see the 1st world, Kanade did, and claims that she believes that what they saw were echoes of the past.

Dari: Kanade and Tomo’s rather serious talk is interrupted by a not so serious Ania + Koala pair, with Ania asking if they could keep the koala (despite all that happened, she still loves that koala). No prizes for guessing Tomo’s answer, so Ania and the Koala put on a show about how the koala was scared and all, until Tooru grabs the Koala and asks him what he was doing there, making him reveal his identity to the others… the President of the Science Club… (please note that even Shuri, the acting president, was surprised by this)

Dari: Well, here we are, at the end of the 1st episode of season 2 of Asura Cryin’, I hope that this Season ends up being better then the previous one. My Prediction is that we’ll be seeing a fair bit of the 1st world in this season, and learn more of the truth behind events that have already happened.

Dari: and don’t forget to tell me if you want more physics comments in my next review.

Dari’s opinion of the 1st world and ruins:7/10

Dari’s anticipation for more 1st world flashbacks:8/10
