While watching it with my older brother, I was like... "Who is that? Why are the pilots kids? Is it eating the angel thing?! Hey, did she die? Is Shinji's dad a good guy or a bad guy? Was that the guy's head that just fell into the water? What's with the orange stuff? How come-" Aaaand I think you get my point. Very confused, I was. After FINALLY watching the series, I was a bit less confused, but only just the other week did I truly understand what had happened at the end lol. TV tropes?! I love TV tropes! Ryuu is quite amazing. Really, to make the arrangement for Tooru to come back was beautiful. While it does works out in his favor, there are not so many of us that can think so clearly. The average person would have a hard time seeing beyond the pain of their (wished for) girl being in love with their brother. Ryuu is a wonderfully masculine character without the need to be erratic and destructive. For example he doesn't feel the need to sabotage Yoshida's feelings for his brother. No need to challenge Tooru to a duel at Kendo. Instead he is able to channel this through an utter confidence in himself and his friends. Love that. Minnie, get well soon.
