Makina... held captive.
Garrick: Okay, so forgive me on my mistake on episode 12′s review. I did not know Shikabane had 13 episodes. So, here we are, with the real final episode for Shikabane Hime: Aka. This episode continues the battle between Makina and the Shichisei, along with a huge time skip.
The fated event.
Garrick: So I’ve made it to the end of this series… with quite a bit of tardiness… but for all of you that have read my reviews through the season, thank you. (Yes, I know that’s not many.) We have quite a fitting end to the anime’s season, and of course, there’s a new season already airing. I can’t wait to continue. I know that this isn’t really necessary, anyhow, since the next season seems to start off right where this left off… so… I pretty much wasted a paragraph of space. Go me. Anyway… on with the review.
Somebody gets stabbed. Who is it?
Garrick: We have a continuation of the conflict between the factions of the Kougon cult and the Shichishi. Or should I say, between Makina, and the Shichishi?
Our new villain... who, I'd hope stays long enough for the second season.
Garrick: Finally, I’m back. I won’t bore you all with any other introduction that’s not anime-related. Here we go….
Garrick: This episode introduces what seems to be a new enemy, along with the disappearance of another pair of characters… read on to see what I’m talking about.
Lots and lots of death.
Garrick: I’m on a posting sprint! This episode of Shikabane Hime: Aka is very deep and goes into a lot of the background of our main character, Oori Kagami. Overall, I was satisfied by a most of it, yet, at the same time, not too much happened that could keep the story moving.
Yet another bloody episode... Yes... Minai is dead.
Garrick: I seem to have the worst luck in the episodes I’ve watched this week. While I’ll probably need to go into the episode for you to understand, as you could tell by the picture… yes. Minai Ruo, Isaki Shuuji’s Shikabane Hime will die this episode. This episode goes further into the meaning behind a Shikabane Hime, and the attachments they hold to this world. (more…)
This is what Shikabane Hime is all about.
Garrick: Here I am again… this time with an all new anime that hasn’t been reviewed on our site yet. Introducing: Shikabane Hime: Aka. As a very brief review of the first episodes, I’ll say this.
Garrick: Shikabane are essentially corpses. Humans that have died that continue to stay attached to this world, become Shikabane. In order to protect the world from Shikabane, some priests from the Kongou cult (essentially a priest cult) create a pact with certain Shikabane (who, quite oddly are all girls). These Shikabane are then called Shikabane Hime and live their life after life soley to defeat other Shikabane. Of course, there is a catch, which is the goal for most Shikabane Hime.After defeating 108 (that sure seems arbitrary) Shikabane, a Shikabane Hime may go to Heaven.
Garrick: That’s the background, as for the storyline… I can’t really explain it all so well, but essentially, each area of Japan has a area leader. The area that the characters reside in is protected by the main character’s older brother, Tagami Keisei, and his Shikabane Hime, Makina Hoshimura, and in the last episode, was put out of commission with an injury. Other characters are Takamasa Sougi and his Shikabane Hime, Itsuki Yamagami, and Isaki Shuuji and his Shikabane Hime, Minai Ruo. (more…)
